MMA's first appearance on national television saw two of Elite XC's highly publicized marketing machines do as they were expected to with Gina Carano putting all naysayers and weight-watchers to rest via a dominating performance over Caitlin Young and Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson weathering an early storm and apparent lack of wrestling to TKO an exhausted James Thompson early in the third round.

So, it would seem as though everything worked out as planned for Gary Shaw and Co., although I'd venture to say that those at ringside may have hoped for more out of the also highly marketable Phil Baroni and a KO of Scott Smith at the hands of Robbie Lawler instead of the NC that the crowd (both the 8,033 in attendance and 7.5 million at home) were treated to would not have gone unappreciated.

Looks like this Oddball of an organization might stand a chance. Women fighters and backyard brawlers? Who knew!

Elite sucks, I just hope Affliction has a better product w/ some staying power.
