April 2007. PRIDE had just run PRIDE 34 in Saitama on April 8th. It was a good show, and things were looking up for DSE with PRIDE 35, their third show on American soil, looming right on the horizon, with Wanderlei Silva vs Igor Vovchanchyn already on tap. Ed Fishman, PRIDE USA's president was confident, too.
..And then he called it off.
PRIDE was on the fringe of potential success in America, having already tentatively planned three more USA shows. Fishman called the show on the 28th off, effectively ending this front.
Dream Stage scrambled and aired a pay-per-view on the 28th, anyway. PRIDE Legacy - a documentary celebrating ten years of tradition and success for the PRIDE Fighting Championships. With Zuffa moving in with increasingly powerful sales pitches, this would ultimately be the company's last pay-per-view.
Think about this when you think about PRIDE going defunct.

Zuffa bought Pride prior to Pride 34.

I remember when Pride went under and everyone thought we would get some dream match ups. Instead, we got a fucking WWE wrestler to come to the UFC, Mark Coleman returning, and no HW division in the UFC.

And instead of the SuperBowl of MMA once a year, Dana stretches out cards so thin that you have Alves/Hughes main events for no belt.

I miss the lights going out to announce a decision and the Japanese announcer butchering the pronounciation of the fighters name.

What happened to the UFC nuthuggers who would always cry about Pride not having title fights on their PPV's? At least they got to see at least 5 fighters ranked in the top ten fight all the time.

Mauro + Bas = Best announcing team ever. That statement also stretched across every sport, as they're the only two announcers that I never got annoyed with.
