CHICAGO -- The mixed martial arts promotion Strikeforce is in talks with Illinois' athletic commission to sanction its Nov. 7 bout featuring Fedor Emelianenko, according to sources close to the negotiations.

The bout, which will be nationally televised by CBS, would be held at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.

A decision from the commission could come as soon as Friday.

"It's a possibility, nothing is set in stone," the source said. "We'll know soon if we're going there."

Emelianenko (30-1-0), who is considered the No. 1 MMA fighter in the world, will fight Brett Rogers (10-0) in the heavyweight main event.

There really is nothing that they can do to counter a free event like this. Major fighters that get a cut of PPV's would balk at the money they would be losing to be the main event. So it would most likely be headlined by a Leben/Socynski (sp)
