View Full Version : Why not fight in the UFC?

Why do fighters not? Is it really a money issue? Probably not.
Fighters who are with the UFC get the most exposure and would be fighting in the best circumstances possible.
I just think that Dana and the Fertittas are trying to look ahead many years
and not take a shitty deal like Dana has said many times. Sometimes that means
TV deals will come and go and fighters will come and go.
Someone help me understand why some top level fighters are not with the UFC.
Fear of losing? Cro Cop style?

Fuck CrapCop!
And I don't know, Joachim Hansen said that he would never EVER fight for the UFC, didn't give any reason.
I don't think the UFC & Co threats their fighters good (when you see it through a fighters eyes).

I don't see why. I mean, I want to be in the UFC so bad, I started taking Xyience. You know, because all the UFC fighters do, and according to the commercials, if you take it, scantily clad woman will want to have sex with you. The only problem is that it makes me work out so hard, I'll sweat really bad and ruin my Tapout shirts. After that, I like to unwind with Mickey's fine malt beverage. It makes me look so hot, my gf totally wants to bone me, at which point I'll go to condomdepot.com, to make sure I have mah shit on order.

Indeed. I guess it has to do with competition though. I mean, if I were LW, I would want to fight in dream before I fight UFC. UFC has a bunch of nobodies, a couple somebodies, and 2, maybe 3 top 10s. WW, definatly UFC. MW, eh, your call. LHW definatly UFC. HW probably goes to Affliction right now, and I'm not too keen on the SHW devision.

I think the fact that the UFC locks down their fighters from fighting else where has to do with it as well.

UFC has a pretty damn good LW division too imo. Its a toss up between them and dream I think.

UFC has a bad track record for how they treat their fighters. Also, you can fight as often as you like elsewhere.

I cant really explain...
maybe they are either not good enough or maybe afraid to get annihilated?
Possibly the contract is too strict, etc.
All I can say is that a good run in the UFC is the best thing a fighter can do. Look at Hughes....He's dwindling now but he'll always be remembered as the most dominate Welterweight ever (unless GSP can produce that long of a run).
UFC has the best exposure so I really cant figure it out. I would rather lose a really great fight in the UFC than win in an obscure org.

CC will be back in the UFC. He's figuring himself out and hopefully getting a couple good wins in Japan. I hope that Zuffa and FEG share him up until he's in UFC title contention, at which point it's understandable for the UFC to lock him up.

The reason is that they are not able to fight in other organizations.
Meanwhile they are unsure how often they will fight per year, so some of these guys are tied down and only fight twice a year (If you lose and don't get winners purse, then you're fucked)

I love how you rarely see some fighters and they're taking home about $3,000-$10,000 per fight. Then that's their income for 6-12 more months.

I think it has a lot to do with the UFC treating their fighters as a pure commodity without much regard for respecting them personally.
And Dana White is not a public relations personality.

This is what I feel is keeping some big names out. No one wants to be the man coming in and then get beat. Like what happened to Shogun, Cro Cop, ect.

Really, the LHW and HW look way different than what they were supposed to be.

The international orgs usually pay more and have less standards.
