...is bullshit. I lost a fight last weekend cause the ref was all in my ear blabbering "Are you okay? Do you want me to stop it?" I say, "I'm okay" while fighting through a keylock, and he stops it. He apologized later, but I still have a L on my record now.
So, what should happen?

If it was a glaring bad call, I think it should be reviewed and ruled a no contest. I don't really see it fair for the fighter in the advantages position to have to restart in their corner or in the same position for that matter. As far as letting it stand, this isn't baseball. The only "human element" should be the fighters themselves.

Did you ask your opponent about the mistake at all?

Just curious to see if you asked him what he heard or how he reacted when the fight was stopped.

Thanks Gumby.
That is really too bad Finn.
Sounds like you really got the wire brush treatment.
Get back in shape and take it out on the next sorry bastard.

let the rule stand, the bigger point to all of this is...

there needs to be better trained and smarter referees.

QFT. I want to be reffed by Jorge Gurgel. He's the best ref you'll get for small shows.

Be vocal with promoters about reffing finn.

If they want you, they'll listen.

Well, I got screwed, but being an ammy event, its not going to have much consequence. I can only imagine what my reaction would have been if the difference was 10k or 20k, though.

Shit would have hit the fan.

Probably something involving a chipper shredder and his family, a big canvas sheet, a kiddy pool, a large broom, and a Bob Ross costume for me.
I'll start calling his son "Happy little mountain" now.

Oh, and here is my opinion on refs talking to fighters.

it depends on the damage done by the mistake
some mistakes cause guys to get KTFO'd
or KTFO'd guys chances to recover, and you cant really fix these things
but if you mean in your case finnegan..once the bell is rung, its kind of hard to tell the fighter who just jumped up for joy that he has to keep fighting

I don't fight, but I figure it would be somewhat of a distraction. If you're fighting off a sub, last think you'd really want is some gangly asshole in your ear, asking if you want to quit. As for the L, you could try to appeal. It's a smaller show, so you may have to get lucky.
