I think the issue of brain damage in combat sports should be look at more closely,people are talking about what a wife killing piece of shit he was but their not asking why this sad scenario happened. Most likely Valero had suffered a significant amount of brain damage which has been linked to many mental diseases (depression especially). Valero Had a bad crash in 2001 in which he had to have brain surgery to remove a clot,he also wasn't to slick of a boxer either and he would often eat big punches to land his bigger punch.
Having brain trauma and a cocaine addiction is a recipe for disaster,I think its amazing he was able to sustain Success in the ring.I'm not defending the guy but at least people should learn WHY it happened and try to get help before something does and sadly this is not a isolated incident for boxing,Arguello and gatti went down a fucked up path as well.
