Like him or not, if you are a fan of any sports team, you would want an owner like him. A lot of owners talk about how they want a championship, but they won't take the risks or make the right moves (even if they're asshole moves) to make it happen. A lot of owners are satisfied to be just good or even mediocre as long as the money is still coming in.

Not Steinbrenner. That motherfucker demanded nothing less than championships, and he was willing to be an asshole, bend the rules, reshape the rules, and spend the money on salaries to make that happen. He won championships - over and over again. You can debate his tactics, but you can't debate his results. 11 World Series appearances and winning it 7 of those times - in only 36 years.
