I had surgery. he said. It was pretty intense for me.
My retina was damaged, possibly detached, and the laceration was pretty long. It was basically from one end of my eye to the other. They did laser surgery that took about two hours, put some stitches on it basically.
NSAC needs to make this a no-contest. With all the video and now medical evidence, it's a slam-dunk.

As I said, if the NSAC doesn't turn this into an NC, then they Kevin Burns shouldn't be sanctioned to fight in the state.

On one side, I feel for Anthony Johnson. The man is just trying to make a living for himself doing what he does that. I respect that, I really do.
The other side of me thinks that there may be something to Farmer Burn's story about breaking the hand as many times as he has and its deformed slightly to the point where he cant close it. Listen, Ive broken my hands many times, fingers and all. And I didnt have insurance, mommy or daddy to pay for it or anything else. I didnt even take pain killers, I just dealt with it. So because of that, I can understand how its possible to break your hand and not have the ability to pay for it to be fixed properly. Life is hard, and not everybody is born with a silver spoon in their mouth. But with that said, suppose Burn's excuse is legit. How was he able to pass the medicals to fight in the first place?
I think there is something to Kevin's story, but ofcourse that doesnt negate the fact he definitely eye gouged Johnson numerous times. But Im not so sure it was malicious, and I have to admit I was surprised the TKO was awarded initially to Burn's but considering the way the referee handled the fight, I understand. I think ultimately the referee's actions played a role in how the fight was called. Had he waived it all off after Johnson hit the deck, I could see the fight being handed to Johnson via disqualification. But thats not what happened.
From memory, Burns poked Johnson in the eye and missed a quick uppercut. Johnson hit the deck, Burns looked at the ref who did nothing. So burns pounces on Johnson, shortly after the ref jumped in and stopped it. If thats how it went down from memory alone, then I can understand how the fight was awarded a TKO. In my opinion, the ref cost Johnson a W by disqualification by his own hesitation and circumstances which lead to the stoppage.

I don't like that guy at all but that was a fucked up call by the ref.

if burns truly has to fight w. his fingers sticking out like that then maybe he shouldn't be allowed to fight? wtf - they wrap their hands and check their nails and freak out if there's a bit too much grease but a finger sticking out is ok?
either way, that decision should be overturned.
