The scary thing about philly is they are better now then at any point in the seasonand possibly years. They playoffs started with questionable goaltending and an injury to Carter.
Boucher gets hurt Carters back. This is a scary team don't get me wrong this playoff is all about Chicago. But Philly has the biggest Dcore and some top notch forwards to throw beside a big goalie who is not making mistakes. And if penalties are called the way they have been in the eastern bracket this sets up for an epic final. Better then any series Chicago has played so far.

the sharks had a better chance than philly
leighton has played well bc he hasnt faced a top level offense yet. wont hold up when he has 40+ shots comin his way a game
and phillys D is not better nor deeper than chicagos

I saw the clip the other day where Duncan Kieth got his teeth busted out and came back to play 7 minutes later, that's fucking insane. That dudes a fucking trooper. Spitting blood and chunks of teeth out in the post game interview.

lol. Philly played a ranked 28th offense team and a ranked 30th. I'm sure the Devils are pretty low, too. This won't even be close.
How can you say Philly has better Defense with a straight face? Seabrook and Keith were the first D Pair for the Canadian Team. Duncan Keith is a Norris Finalist, and after that there is Campbell and Hjallmarson (or whatever).

All I said was bigger guys and they are bigger then anyones in the league.
Great game last night this is going top get ugly if the refs keep no calling the contact but thats the way I like my hockey. None of this Mickey mouse PittsburghVsDetroit bullshit finally a stanley cup final thats more interesting then the memorial cup.

The matchup vs Chicago is much diffrent due to speed and a deeper line up. Sharks the top line eats up too much cap space that the rest of the team is fucked they were better last year before losing erhoff a guy who made up for big Joe and Heatleys lack of speed.
Philly doesn't have weak links like Manny malholtra sp?
And honestly even the tops lines how much worse is Carter, Richards and Gagne compared to Joe Danny and marleau.
The D is better and deeper then SJ again I never said shit about chicagos D (one of you misread and one of you read the others post =) ). I expect many cups out of chicago maybe even a dynasty but this is no easy task right here the players in Philly are winners except the goaltending. I'd bring back Leighton for game 2.

The ting to watch out for with Leighton is not his confidence being shot from the pull but the fact he knows a lot of guys on the team because he was drafted there. Sharp was saying some not very nice things as he went off the ice and a lot of that had to do with history.

i dont care where he was drafted
its game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals. you are one of the main reasons your team got this far and you get pulled for a goalie who might not be 100%. that will hurt anyones confidence

sopel either plays with no regard for his body and makes great plays OR he skates around like he has a refrigerator on his back. hawks PK looked like shit. they are going to need to tighten it up. they also need to protect the crease. niemi will give up rebounds so they need to protect him

Pronger is such a cunt. took both of the game pucks and threw them in the garbage. the fuck should worry less about mind games and more about winning games.
and if he thinks going back home to Philly means anything, he is wrong. hawks are riding a 7 game road winning streak, and embarrassed the sharks in the Shark Tank, which is considered one of the toughest places to play.
look for pronger and carcillo to get stupid penalties, as usual. gets pretty frustrating when a team is beating you at your own game

Another great game last night. I hate to see Philly win a game though, fuck Philly.
they won for two reasons
the first and main reason was the Hawks were not hustling. the flyers should not beat them to free pucks. the hawks are a much faster team.
the second reason is chris pronger, while being known league wide as a dirty player, gets called for nearly nothing. while byfuglien gets 2 whistles, pronger is elbowing, slashing, and cross checking. obvious penalties yet no calls. further proof, in my eyes, the the league tells the refs to calm down with their whistles to make 6 or 7 game series more likely for the ratings and whatnot
but it is what it is. the only way the hawks lose this series is if they beat themselves

WINDSOR, Ont. -- Family, friends and fellow hockey players paid tribute to Bob Probert on Friday, remembering the former NHL tough guy as a gentle giant with a big heart.
About a thousand mourners gathered at the Windsor Christian Fellowship Church to say goodbye to one of the most feared fighters in NHL history.
Probert, who played for the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks between 1985 and 2002, died Monday after collapsing with chest pains during a family boat trip on Lake St. Clair. He was 45.
Former Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman remembered his former teammate in a eulogy.
"He had nicknames for everyone and lit up the dressing room, airplane and bus with his personality," Yzerman said. "And away from the rink, he had a kind heart and was a gentle giant."
Yzerman was joined at the funeral by many other members of the hockey community, including Red Wings owners Mike and Marian Illitch, Detroit general manager Ken Holland and former players Dino Ciccarelli, Doug Gilmour, Stu Grimson, Darren McCarty, Joey Kocur, Tie Domi and Gerard Gallant.
Despite his off-ice struggles with drugs and alcohol, Probert had a significant impact on the game, said former Detroit assistant coach Colin Campbell.
"We had many challenges with Bob early in his career," said Campbell, who shared the podium with Yzerman. "But he battled through them all to become one of the biggest impact players in the NHL.
"I always used to think that I was helping Bob, but looking back now I realize that he was giving me life lessons."
During his days on the ice, Probert never shied away from a fight. He was part of many memorable battles, often exchanging punches with an opponent until his elbow and shoulder pads had fallen to the ice. The list of his fighting partners reads like a who's who of NHL tough guys: Grimson, Domi, Marty McSorley, Basil McRae and Donald Brashear.
Domi was visibly moved following the service.
"Everyone thought that Bob and I hated each other, but we had a great mutual respect," said Domi, a native of nearby Belle River. "I always loved playing against Bob because he always competed so hard."
But Yzerman said Probert was more than just a tough guy.
"Bob was one of the single biggest reasons for the rebirth of the Detroit Red Wings back in the 1980s," he said. "Bob Probert was not just a one-dimensional hockey player. Yes, he had fists of stone, but he also had a soft scoring touch."
A lengthy procession from the Families First Funeral Home on the city's far east side to the church in the south end led by 54 motorcyclists, many of them wearing Probert jerseys. It was a tribute befitting of Probert, who was an avid motorcycle rider. Probert's casket was transported to and from the church in a motorcycle side car.
Hundreds of fans also lined the streets during the procession to pay their respects.
"I can tell you with absolute certainty that Bob did not know how much he was loved," Probert's father-in-law Dan Parkinson said during a eulogy. "The response of the city of Windsor today has been overwhelming. To see so many people lining the street to pay their respects to Bob is very special."
Parkinson, a retired Windsor police officer, then paused for a moment before making light of Probert's numerous brushes with the law.
"Bob was more fascinated with my career than I was with his," he said as the audience broke out into laughter. "He took every opportunity to interact with members of law enforcement agencies both in Windsor and Detroit."
Probert is survived by his wife Dani and his four children: Tierney, Brogan and twins Jack and Declyn.
One of the most touching moments of the service came from Probert's daughters.
"On July 5, 2010, my father was called to heaven," said Tierney. "Heaven will never be the same."
"I had the goofiest, most embarrassing dad ever," Brogan said during the service. "But he was my dad, and I will always love him."
