As many of you know, when it's time for any important MMA event, I usually can get a very quality WINAMP stream. But since more often than not, when I give it out, people say they can hear it but not see it, I decided to make this thread. If my streams that I've handed out before have worked for you, then you're fine. If not, here's how to make them work. Yeah, it's copied directly from the secret site. Don't like it? Blow me.
1. Download Winamp. (http://www.winamp.com/player) For the sake of keeping it simple, don't customize the install. But if you do, make sure you keep Multimedia Engine >> Video Playback >> Nullsoft Video (NSV). If you aren't customizing, don't bother with what that means.
2. Download AND COPY INTO YOUR WINAMP PLUGINS DIRECTORY/FOLDER this file. It HAS to be in your plug ins folder, otherwise it will not work. (http://h264.joesondo.org/files/nsvdec_x264.dll) This file not being there means that you'll hear sound, but like Stevie Wonder, won't see shit. C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins should do the trick, for the lazy.
3. Next, install ffdshow. (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow) This one DOES NOT go into your winamp plugins directory. Save it somewhere where it will be easy to find, then run it.
4. Start >> Programs >> ffdshow >> VFW configuration. On the top menu bar there should be a tab that says "Decoder." Click it. Then click Codecs in the left list. On the right column, click select H.264/AVC, and the column to the right of this needs to be set to 'libavcodec'. By default it should be, and it has been every time I've set this up. If not, select it in the droplist.
5. It should be set up. Come time for most big MMA cards (WEC, UFC, Sengoku, Dream, Affliction, Strikeforce, ect.) go ahead and shoot me a PM about an hour or so before fight time, that is usually the earliest I have streams. If any of this is really confusing, I'll post screen shots where needed.
If one of you higher ups could sticky this in the right forum too, that'd be great.
