Affliction: A Reflection

After watching last nights event, I had a few observations.

Vitor Belfort is really THAT GOOD at 185, or Matt Lindland is just an overated fuck face I always thought he was. I would like to go with Vitor is that good and see him make a run in the UFC. He has a compelling story and has the type of exciting fight style that would translate well into the UFC.

After watching Bobby Green fight Dan "THE ACTOR" Lauzon I was very impressed with Bobby Green, with only being in the sport for 2 years and putting on the type of thrilling performance he did, was quite impressive. I'd like to see him come through TUF or have the UFC bring him in and build his name up on undercard fights, either way I was impressed.

Josh Barnett continues to not impress me, and I can't see how people actually think Josh Barnett is a viable threat to Fedor. After mounting Gilbert Yvel each time in each round, he was not able to finish Gilbert until the 3rd round and it was due to strikes. Gilbert Yvel has no ground game whatsoever and was landing some decent blows FROM THE BOTTOM on Barnett, I don't see any part of Barnetts game that could threaten Fedor.

The announcing crew ESPECIALLY Tito Ortiz last night made some of those fights almost unbearable to listen to and watch. From one announcer continually calling a Kimura a fucking Armbar to Tito constantly calling Fedor "THEODORE" made me almost sick to my fucking stomach. Tito's post fight interviews made me cringe everytime he called someone buddy and almost made me vomit everytime he stumbled over his words. Tito needs to watch some tapes of Joe Rogan or Frank Mir before he even attempts to announce again, or just be prepared to embarrass yourself again.
