Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel were traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for a second round pick.

Bad idea. I didn't mind the Vrabel trade because their linebackers need to get younger but they should have kept Cassel, at least into training camp to be sure Brady was better.

I don't mind this, though "The move leaves the Patriots with three second-round picks in the 2009 draft"

I think they know Brady is going to be fine. Kind of a gamble, but a second rounder?

KC got a bargain, that's for sure

I wouldn't be surprised if they packaged some picks for a guy like Peppers... on the other side of this - Brady's apparently right on schedule with recovery... he was at a charity event in the Boston area a couple days ago - jogging around and fooling with kids.

I think they also like O'Connell, their young backup that looked just like Cassel in training camp last year but a much bigger arm. They might like to have him learn under Brady for another couple years. Woudn't be surprised if they brought in some vet purely for protection.

Signing Taylor was a great move btw... no need to run every down - will fit in perfectly with Morris and Jordan.

I agree. I was happy to see that signing, especially with how injury prone Maroney is.

Cassel is a product of the system. May not fair too well in KC.

Hasn't played a full season since 2003, and looked much older last season. If anyone can make him NOT die, I guess it would be the Patriots?

Freddy T missed three games when the team bus hit a pot hole. True story.

Rumor has it that the Bucs offered a first and a third pick for Cassell. Looks like Bill gave his boy a discount.

Eh, between him and Marony, they should combine for 16 games.

And Pioli runs the system in KC. They just need a decent WR to go with Gonzalez and Cassel will be fine.

Bowe is a very good WR. He needs ANOTHER solid WR though. Although Tony should do fine from the TE spot.

What makes me hate him is the fact that he requested a trade after the offensive coordinator left for USC. What a fucking baby.
